LANDLORDS: Not Paying Rental Income Tax Targeted By KRA

The noose is tightening on Landlords who are not paying their rental income tax.  Landlords who earn between Ksh144,000 to Ksh10,000,000  annually are supposed to declare their rental income to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)  through a monthly tax return.  A 10% tax on the gross rental income is paid to KRA.

KRA wants to add over 60,000 new rental income taxpayers by 2021.  Parliamentarians voted to allow KRA to access electronic data on taxpayers without a court order.
